Gevar's Greens is a boutique grower. We don't mass produce for restaurants that are buying micros for purely visual aesthetics, although i have done that before quite successfully. Nor are we some trendy new trick on the block that just googled 'how to grow microgreens' and are now growing fake micro-greens in dead medium using LED lights for quick uniform results. On that note, while their enthusiasm in seeking nutrient dense foods is commendable, you just can't cut corners and expect nutritional gains. It doesn't work that way. There are no shortcuts in agriculture. Anyone that tells you there is is selling your something! RUN!

When i was a kid, there was a very famous commercial with the tagline, 'It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature!" You cannot deprive these young tender plants of vital sunshine during their brief life and expect the nutritional output to be high. It just defies science and logic.  Anyone who would claim this knows little to nothing about plant life cycles and how microgreens are properly grown. You shouldn't be buying from these people. They are not giving you a good value no matter what price point, especially if you are purchasing them for nutritional value. In that event, you are definitely wasting your $$$ cuz you're not consuming food containing the 'prana'(sanskrit 'life force') Why would you wanna do that? 

 

i have opted instead to work with science and nature to empower my microgreens by allowing them full sun during their brief life cycle. This allows for every sprectrum of light and not just the 2 that LED give in YUGE doses. The studies that have been done on the effects of LED are highly propagandized due to the impact of agricultural mega-corporation lobbying for their use. LED  sales in 2025 were $107 Billion with a projected steady growth rate of 8% annually thru 2033(source: https://www.grandviewresearch.com/industry-analysis/led-lighting-market). So, there is a massive incentive in deceiving the public for profits. Studies have confirmed the harmful effects of LED lighting on humans yet somehow its magically 'OK' to expose young plant tissue to them and there is no harmful effect?

 

C'mon, Seriously? 

 

It's really very simple. Sunlight is the 'Prana' of fire, so say the mystics and it is crucial for the development of the full array of vitamins and important macro-nutrients that LED grown microgreens just cannot produce. Thousands of years of evolution of plants cannot be supplanted by corporate funded 'research papers'. i choose Nature and the natural process for maximum nutrient density. Someone once said, 'if it aint broke, don't fix it!".

So, i am neither the mass production grower nor the 'corner cutting' grower. i have settled instead on growing the absolute highest quality microgreens for over a decade using only regenerative, vegan, sustainable, beyond organic methods with pure locally sourced inputs and most importantly, 100% Pure Sunshine! i proudly admit that i have NO competition because NO one goes to the lengths i go to, to produce the most superb product available!
